A Simple Yet Elegant Layout Tutorial
Bookish Collection

Welcome to the first layout tutorial for the Bookish collection series! We are so excited for you to be here and we hope we can inspire, teach and guide you throughout this tutorial series. We are going to kick things off with one of my personal favourite layout designs that is simple yet elegant whilst being jammed packed of tips and techniques for you to learn.

Whilst this blog post touches on some of the highlights of the tutorial, we encourage you to watch the step by step Youtube video at the bottom of this blog post with all the details.

In this layout we are going to use four of the 12x12 patterned papers from the collection, three of which will be aligned up each side of the layout and the fourth will be fussy cut to provide the amazing florals that decorate the page.

To add more detail and define where each of the patterned papers starts and finishes we will carefully add some black pen around each perimeter of patterned papers. This could also be done using a black in and blending foam but personally I find the black pen to be quicker, less messy and high impact.

For our title we used a piece of patterned paper from the Mega Pad and some alphabet dies to create our own faux thickers (or as Coliebing from youtube, the creator of this technique, likes to call them "Dickers"). This is a great technique as you don't have to worry about running out of vowels or matching the colours!

Finally we added the cascading floral ephemera down the page using the fussy cut florals and adding some finer details like enamel dots to the middle of some of the flowers. This is one of the ways I love to stretch my embellishment packets as I find I run out of them first in any collection.

Make sure to check out the video below for the full tutorial, tips and techniques.
